Types of Centered Riding® Clinics
Open Clinic
- Taught only by Centered Riding Level III and IV Instructors/Clinicians
- Usually 2-3 days in length
- Open to riders of all levels and disciplines
- Usually includes both un-mounted awareness lessons and mounted lessons
- May focus on a particular riding discipline, e.g. jumping, dressage, reining, driving, handicapped etc.
- Check with clinic organizer regarding fees, the availability of school horses and stabling
Advanced Clinic
- For riders who have extensive experience using Centered Riding techniques although they may or may not ride at an advanced level within their discipline
- Taught only by Centered Riding Level IV Instructors/Clinicians
- Usually 2-3 days in length
- Includes both un-mounted awareness lessons and mounted lessons
- May focus on a particular riding discipline, e.g. jumping, dressage, reining, driving, handicapped etc.
- Check with clinic organizer regarding fees, the availability of school horses and stabling
Instructors’ Course
- Taught only by Centered Riding IV Instructors/Clinicians
- Limited to 12 student instructors
- For riding instructors with at least one year of experience teaching riding who have ridden in at least one Open Centered Riding Clinic
- Taught in two parts (clinic format) with 4-6 weeks between the parts
- Student riders required for Part 2
- Check with clinic organizer regarding fees, the availability of school horses, stabling, etc
Instructor Update Clinic
- Taught only by Centered Riding IV Instructors/Clinicians
- Open to all Level I &II Centered Riding® Instructors
- Clinic is 4 days with a format similar to Part 2 of the Instructor Course
- Clinic size is limited to 12 instructors
- Sometimes held in conjunction with an Open clinic
- Instructors may not miss more than one-half day of the 4 days
- Check with clinic organizer regarding fees, the availability of school horses and stabling
Clinician Update Clinic
- Open only to Level III & IV Centered Riding Instructors/Clinicians
- All the instructors both teach and are taught by their fellow instructors
- Organized by a Level III or IV instructor who acts as the moderator
- Clinic is 4 days and includes mounted, un-mounted and discussion
- Instructors may not miss more than one-half day of the 4 days
- Check with clinic organizer regarding fees, the availability of school horses and stabling
Centered Riding® Lectures and Demonstrations
- An introduction to Centered Riding basics and techniques
- Presented by Centered Riding II, III & IV Instructors
- Usually presented in lecture format
- Usually includes participation in un-mounted awareness exercises
